So, tomorrow night, my youngest will attend his first high school dance.  Not only is it his first dance, but his first date as well.   I know that a lot of moms get teary eyed and overly sentimental at each milestone, but I am not your typical mom.   While I am astonished at how quickly time has passed, I am also very grateful of the young man he is becoming.

I giggled as he asked me for pointers.  Is it too early to ask her?  What restaurants do you suggest?  Yes, I know, he sounds like a little old soul, which, he is, but he is still a young boy trying to navigate his teenage years.

For me, I am absorbed in the ever-changing moment that my boys have.  While I reminisce about the prior years, I relish in the present.     Seeing the evolution of them right before my eyes allows me to appreciate the men that they are becoming while still having a part in the growing process.

So, tomorrow night, I will be grinning.   Watching Bryce venture out with novice dating skills will warm my heart.   I want to celebrate the parenting that I have done.  Parenting is not for the weak.  We have challenges and triumphs, but in the end, tears of “remember when” are replaced with grins of “look at this amazing human that I have helped raise”.
