We are all on a journey of discovery.  Being aware, alert, and open, I have the ability to transform the ordinary to the extraordinary.   The subtle miracles and abundant blessings are mine for the taking, if, I seize the moment.

I am in awe of those individuals whose journey take them to unbelievable places.  They defy the odds by climbing the highest mountain (literally) or take on humanitarian projects.   Realistically, I know that while those are fantastic feats, my purpose can be fulfilling even if on a smaller scale.

What I love is that as I approach the age of 50, I am still growing, learning, and blossoming.  It is a vast world of uncovered treasure that, as long as I am open, can assist me on my path. One of my favorite movies, While You Were Sleeping, had a scene between Sandra Bullock and Peter Gallagher.   She told him that every morning he would give up his seat on the crowded train.  He commented that there was nothing heroic about that .  Her response was that it was heroic to the person who was given his seat.

That scene resonated with me because each day my interactions with people allow me to show love, kindness, and respect.  These simple actions of greeting someone with a smile, holding the door, allowing someone to go before us in a line, etc., allow us to move forward on our journey of self-discovery.  My life expands with each gestures.  Maybe I won’t change the world, but I don’t take for granted the affect I have on others.
