There is a saying that imitation is the highest form of flattery.  I guess that is true, if you are a three year old copying your favorite cartoon character.  As an adult, however, I find it boring. By finding your true self, copying someone is unnecessary.

There are people along my path, that I deeply admire.  These are individuals who have qualities that draw me in, but I have yet to feel the need for imitation.   I stated in my Facebook status recently, that my feeling when I am imitated gravitates to believing that there is a lack of imagination on their part.  It goes from complimentary, to creepy, to downright annoying.

I am a firm believer that we are all unique humans with the ability to create ourselves.  If I am constantly copying another person, that doesn’t make me authentic.  That’s why I am intrigued by our nature to be our own visionaries and pioneer our way through life.   It is more fun being original than just another package on a very boring shelf.
