Yesterday was a tad crazy with the new addition of our senior Basset sprinkled with everyday live.   I was amazed with the transition.  Presley was accepted, after a few growls from Hallee letting her know who is boss, into this home that I laughingly refer to as the Jones Zoo.  Yes, amidst the dog hair, cat attitudes and general life, I find my home the most peaceful place to reside.

Watching Presley investigate her new surroundings reminded me of two things.  One, gratitude comes in all forms.  Her eagerness to please and simply be accepted sets the tone for all living beings.  After all, isn’t that what we all want?   The second thing is how everything came together with such ease.  I was terrified yesterday that none of them would get along and I would be faced with the decision of taking her back.  All fears aside, I couldn’t get over the immediate comfort that Presley felt.  I can only hope that more people see the beauty in bringing home a senior rescue.

I am not blind to the fact that we are looking at borrowed time, but I am present enough to watch how happy she has become and how her energy level has improved just by knowing she has a home.   As all three of them snore to their hearts content this morning, I can’t help but to think that while we rescued her, she is the one doing the saving.
