Naturally, when one is trying to prepare for a party, there are always bumps that jerk the smooth path you thought was paved.   I chuckle at the novelty that I thought it would be smooth sailing this week.  First, we had a issue with the garage door that needed to be fixed since it had declined to open or close.   That issue has been resolved.  I exhaled.  Then I realize that our refrigerator is not holding its temperature.  Praying that our refrigerator has not entered its last phase of life, I have a repairman coming today.   This is not ideal party preparation, but it is what it is.

I found gratitude and irony in the fact that we have a rather old refrigerator in the garage that keeps plugging along.  My comment to my husband that “they don’t make them like they used to” made me sound glaringly old.   After dinner, the boys and I transferred our inventory to the outside ice box (see I even used a  geriatric terms).

While preparing for a party is stressful enough, there is always a glitch.   Just like anything in life, it is all about expecting the unexpected.     Being flexible on the journey is still a struggle for me, but what I do know is that everything works out – maybe not the way I had planned, but always better than I hoped.   So, while inconvenient, I have my fingers crossed we are not looking at a big purchase.    Whatever transpires, I am oozing with gratitude as the only other option is to loose my shit, which doesn’t really do much good.  I am simply remembering that all is well and this too shall pass.
