I hit the pause button – not literally, but figuratively – on the outside world today.   Social media felt heavy.    Burdened by another act of violence, the video of a man’s last moments are traveling throughout people’s news feeds.   Once again, the whirl of chaos that has partnered with intolerance sweeps through and takes its hostages.

I am saddened by our society.   It seems that it is an us vs them mentality, however you wish to look at it.   Oddly enough, we are all human….fallible at that.   The problem is that we are so busy screaming, posting, tweeting, our opinions and what we consider the truth, no one is really listening to each other.   The truth is that the more intolerant we become, the more explosive situations become and before you know it, we turn against each other.

I don’t know about you, but I wish to be part of the solution, not the problem.   I like to sit back, gather the information before I form a conclusion.   I believe that everyone’s lives matter and that if we are ever going to move forward as a country, listening to one another might be the good place to start.

I don’t know the answers to these seemingly complicated ways of dealing with each other.  Maybe it is simply accepting that others might think differently than you, but that doesn’t mean their opinions, values, or their spirit should be discarded.  We really are more alike than different……..we have just blurred the lines which makes it more difficult to see the similarities.
