With all the free time that I am embracing, it has given me some time to calmly access my goals.    Recently, an opportunity was brought to my attention that I immediately dismissed.   The reasoning was simple – I don’t want to do it, but the reality was fear of rejection was blinding my goal.   The goal of reaching out to the unknown.   For me, getting out of my comfort zone can be terrifying, but what I have learned is that if I don’t a least try, then I will proceed through my life with a list of “what ifs”.

So, yesterday, I sent an email inquiring about the opportunity and I now sit and wait for a response.   The difference is that I have nothing to lose either way.   The worst case scenario is that I am greeted with a “no thanks” or “we are going in a different direction”, but I sent the email and have no attachment to the outcome.  That to me is the key.

This “time out”, while challenging in every way possible, has been a wonderful chance to appreciate where I am in my life and what avenues I can take to enhance my vision.   It isn’t a full proof plan, but it does involve putting myself out there and embracing whatever comes my way.

While this episode with my knee has been a challenge, I would be lying if I didn’t reveal that it has given me a much deserved break to simply be still – be an observer – and to gradually reenter life with a whole new outlook.   It has been rehab for my whole being.
