I didn’t always show any appreciation for the ingredients that make up my existence and I am not sure when I started to have an ounce of gratitude.  What I do know is that the older I get the more grateful I become.  Not sure if it has to do with age, mind maturity, or the fact that I am overwhelmed with the blessings that keep coming, but I do know that God has created the perfect life……for me.

Reflecting on the past year gives me pause.  I am not sure how I got through two surgeries and an exorbitant amount of physical therapy, but I did it.   The beauty is that I continue to learn how to ask for help and am amazed at the beautiful souls that continue to show up for me.     This life thing takes a village.    I am grateful for a reasonably good attitude and a patient family.  I can certainly be a joy to live with…..(insert sarcastic tone), but they still love me warts and all.

I can certainly appreciate those individuals who keep including Bailey into their lives.  Not out of obligation, but out of a sincere desire to be his friend.   They complement his life and he theirs.    The gratitude that I have for people showing up for both of my boys makes my heart swell.

So, I start my day with a resounding “thank you” because I don’t do anything alone and God has shown me that his plan is so much better than mine.  Never in my wildest dreams would I have seen my life as it is now.  It isn’t perfect, but it is mine and that’s enough for me.
