Today I woke up full of hope and a sense of purpose.   That isn’t unusual, but today, I was getting my new glasses.  You wouldn’t think changing my spectacles would be a big deal, but for the last few years, I have been reluctantly wearing bifocals……that I hated.   Maybe it was the graduation to the abyss of growing older or maybe it simply was a nod that I needed to change it up.    Approaching fifty gives me a feeling of renewal.  Not the dread that society seems to push, but the feeling that I have so much more ahead of me.

So, in the process of my joy-filled aura, I proceeded to blissfully go about my chores so I could leave to retrieve this life-changing eye wear.    In the process, I stepped into dog shit and then realized my favorite shirt…..the one I was currently wearing had a stain on it.   Those two things…..annoying as they might be or rather inconvenient made me laugh out loud.   Why you ask?  Well, I had just thought about how the day was connecting as planned, no bumps in the road, no obstacles, just smooth sailing.   God has a wicked sense of humor.

After I changed my shirt and cleaned the dog shit off of my shoe, I set off to pick up these life-changing glasses.    They are more square than my previous ones.  Gone are the oval shaped black spectacles with the hideous bifocal lenses.    Now, I host a jazzy new frame that sparkles (yes, sparkles) in the sun.   They have spunk sprinkled with a touch of sassy.

It is funny how our perspective changes with something so trivial.   New haircut, different color lipstick, or a youthful pair of glasses can change your whole demeanor, outlook, and shift your mindset.    It doesn’t take much to see the world with a new set of eyes.
