In the middle of the night, I awoke to a large nose in my face…..Daisy’s subtle message for me to get the hell up and let them outside.    I stumble out of bed and realize that I am partially blind as my left eye is literally glued shut.   You know what is running through my head…..WTH?????     As I navigated into the bathroom, I caught a glimpse of the horror…..crusted border and then once opened, my eye looked like it was on fire.  Guess what, it felt like it too.

As I thought about it, I realized I haven’t had pink eye since my children were walking petri dishes.     It is interesting that in the last week, I have worked through my upper respiratory infection and was on the verge of being 100 percent….until now.   On the cusp of a pity party, I can see the silver lining through my gooey eye……at least it is all happening now.   In eight days, I am leaving for a cruise.    A cruise with thirty-two women from my high school class of 1985.  It has been a year in the making, but we are taking a voyage to celebrate turning 50.    So, you can understand my need to get this stuff cleared up.

There is some humor in this…….a menopausal, 49 year old women with pink eye.  Okay, I can’t see the humor yet, but later I am sure it will be funny.   Maybe the image of me running around the house this morning, repeating the same thing over and over…..”How the hell do I have pink eye?” is funny.  So, when Walgreens opens, I will head up to have this delightful “bump in the road” treated.   I am ready to cruise the high seas with both eyes open.
