As I am deep into the year I will be turning fifty, I am joined by a large group of ladies who are doing the same.  Last night, we were invited to a surprise party of a friend who was standing in the doorway of this illustrious occasion.   Her husband flawlessly, with the help of some amazing individuals, pulled off an epic event.  It started with good friends, food, along with an emotional video, topped off with a private concert from brilliant cellist, Ben Sollee against the stunning landscape surrounding an elegant farmhouse.  It truly was a night of celebration and I was so honored to be included.

This brings me to the point of why it is important to celebrate.    As I reflect on my almost fifty years on this planet, I am in awe of the accomplishments and hardships that I have successfully endured.    I am not dreading this birthday in the least.   If anything I am excited to be living the life that I created.   Doing the things I love surrounded by a tribe of individuals who empower me is the true meaning of success.   Isn’t that what we all aspire to feel?

To those who are hesitant about celebrating you, shed that belief that you aren’t deserving.    I can’t tell you how empowered I feel when I think about all the life events that I not only survived, but emerged stronger, wiser, sprinkled with a little more sass. It makes me want to scream, “Hell yes”!!!     Fifty, isn’t the beginning of the end, it is the continuation of my legacy.   It is merely a pit stop to remind myself that I am doing pretty good with this life thing and the best is still on the horizon.   Although, part of me is wonderful how my life can get any better.
