I felt nudged to write again about Facebook and etiquette that surrounds it.  You see, I feel that most individuals throw manners out the door simply because they are hiding behind a screen.   People……..Facebook manners matter!

Stop Sending Friend Request to People You Don’t Know

Yes, we seem to have mutual friends in common, but I don’t know you, so why are you sending a friend request?    Sure, I am adorable and I seem cool, but you are a stranger.  Maybe if we meet in person, I might change my mind, but for now, no thank you.

Couples Having Conversations On Facebook

I simply adore when couples have conversations for all to see.   It could be what to have for dinner to how wonderful they think the other one is.  Please…..you have a phone or maybe you see each other in person, save it for those moments because the rest of us don’t need or want to see that.

Vague Disclaimers

“Please pray for us.”  Sure, prayer is great.  I  certainly will pray for you and your vagueness.   If you don’t want people to know what is going on in your life, then don’t put anything on Facebook.

Oversharing

I am so sorry that your boyfriend broke up with you, but you don’t have to share every detail.  In fact, no one really needs to know.   And, please don’t post how wonderful he is 48 hours after you all reconcile.  You can’t take back the stuff you wrote previously.  It just seems a little dysfunctional.

Birthday Messages

For some reason, this one in particular eats my lunch.  You take the time to write “Happy Birthday” on someone’s wall, and then someone says the same thing, but on your post.  That is like signing your name to a present you didn’t buy.  If you have five seconds to write on my post, then you certainly can do your own.   Feels better just letting that out.

STOP Posting Those Ridiculous False Facts

No, Facebook is not going to charge you a fee.  No, Kroger is not giving away a $100 coupon.   Check your facts.  SNOPES is an excellent way of researching the latest “false fact”.   We bash the media for it, so check it before you post it.

Perfect Life

We get it.  Everything about your life is amazing.  Your spouse, your kids, your pets, your plants, blah, blah, blah.  Yet, we know the truth.  The truth is if you are spouting perfection, chances are it isn’t as it appears.    Be real. Be authentic.  Be yourself.

These are just a few that I could think of, but don’t worry, I am sure that more with come to the surface.  In the meantime, please pray that my perfect family gets one of those $100 Kroger coupons.
