I am a firm believer that changed behavior is possible.  This girl is living proof that crazy, lunatics can turn out to be a semi-delightful human being.   So, for my next trick, I have decided that I am curbing my judgmental and complaining nature while I am around other humans.  Today was my first day and I hate to brag, but I am sort of killing it.

For example, the guy that turned in front of me without a turn signal, I only called a moron.  You see, I left out the F-word.  Progress.  Then when I had the awareness that maybe “moron” wasn’t kind, I sent a little blessing his way.    The lady that was driving 30 mph in a 45 mph speed zone, I merely mumbled “idiot” again leaving out the F-word.  Then when I had the awareness that maybe “idiot” wasn’t overly loving, I proceeded to send her a little blessing.   See I can be taught a new trick.  It is all about being mindful.

Look, I am no Dalai Lama or Mother Teresa, but I have the capability of acknowledging that people are doing the best they can.   Maybe that gentleman isn’t aware that his car has turn signal capability.  Maybe that lady has a broken speedometer.   I don’t have all the information.  What I do know is that I don’t have to be unkind.   If I do utter something that falls under that category, it can be easily rectified.    Just leaving out the F-word is progress for me!
