Word of mouth is still the most powerful advertising tool.   Not just for businesses, but for people as well.   Since my career shift a year ago, the phrase “your reputation precedes you” is quite pertinent.     The way I conducted myself while I was working for my former employer, the interactions that I had with homeowners and the relationships that I formed with people within the housing industry has been the segway for a growing career.    It comes down to how you treat people.

Are you disrespectful?  Are you unkind?  Do you talk down to people?  Are you dismissive?   These are a few of the qualities that can create havoc on your karma.  In the industry that I work in, reputation is everything.   And it doesn’t matter if you are in a business or not, your “good name” is a pretty important piece.   Trust me, I have watched the karma train run over people and it isn’t pretty.    It is difficult to bounce back when bridges are burned.   It doesn’t matter if you are the best, it all comes down to how you treat others.

Connecting with kindness, respect, and compassion is the formula for success.  You’re not the complete package without any of those.    That is what true beauty encompasses.
