Okay, I am usually quite composed, at least on the outside, but today I am bubbling with excitement over the chance to be in the presence of my favorite writer, David Sedaris.    A few months ago, while waiting for my right of passage as a newly inducted member of the 50 club, I saw an announcement that he was coming to town.  So, I did what every normal person does while waiting to have a camera positioned in their rear, I ordered tickets.  Front row to see the person that inspires me to not take myself too seriously.

For six months, I have been waiting for this night.  I have this fantasy that he is going to see me and our smart ass auras will connect.   He will want to hang out with me, become one of my people, and write my forward for my first published novel.   My circle would be expanded since Pope Francis, Bethenny Frankel, Andy Cohen, Anderson Cooper, Oprah, and Ellen DeGeneres have already got their spot.  I know, it is an eclectic group of people, but it works – at least in my fantasy world.

I guess that is what happens when you get to see the person that truly inspires your creative process or just inspires in general.     He is quirky and has an no qualms about shaking society’s feathers.   I like that.  I aspire to that.  And tonight, I get to soak up his creative energy.    It doesn’t get much better than that.
