I am not sure how to word this, but I will do my best to explain my current situation.  When I created my blog this morning, it was under the pretense of sharing about our right to vote and how Bailey, our oldest with Down syndrome, exercises his right as well.  I shared that breakfast at Chick-fil-A would be our reward for doing our civic duty and that food is an excellent bribe for Bailey.   Apparently, Chick-fil-A was a catalyst for someone to question my integrity because that particular restaurant has a history of being anti-gay.  I guess the whole point of the blog was lost in this particular instance.

This individual said that it was their impression that I was about equality and opportunity and that by eating there I am supporting their beliefs.  First of all, if  you read my blogs, you must have an inkling of the type of human that I am.   I accept EVERYONE.   I have friends that aren’t accepting of homosexuals.  I still love them.  I have family that only see one color.  I still love them.  I could go on and on.  My point is that we are all on the same side.   We are human beings.  Prejudices go both ways.  Come on…….where does it end?????

Let’s get back to my integrity and openness for all.   I have spend twenty-three years breaking down the barriers that were blocking my special needs son from a place in our society.  I have succeeded because I was determined for him to be included in our community.  But I didn’t use hate to get my way.   I educated individuals through the process.   It began with me.    And, that my friends, is how the world works.   If you wish to see a change you must be it.  Don’t blast people personally.  Don’t hate others because they don’t agree with you.   It is a colossal waste of time.

I don’t give a shit if you are gay, black, Muslim, Mexican, etc.   What I care about is, if you are a loving, kind, and compassionate individual.    That is the goal that we should be setting.  Be the example, YOU wish to see in the world.    (Mic drop.)
