I made a decision several years ago to disconnect from certain relationships. I referred to it as a “spiritual cleanse” but it was really ridding myself of people whose purpose no longer served me. It was the action of being true to me. It was the process of shedding some weighty baggage.

Was it easy? Nope. Wast it beneficial? Yes. It wasn’t about the other people changing to meet my needs. It was about me simply outgrowing the connection. It happens. The real lesson is being able to look back, with appreciation, of what I learned.

Look, I have limited tolerance for the human race in general, so why would I waste my time with people who don’t fill me up? I am picky. Those who surround me want only the best for me. They support me. They don’t present a facade to the rest of the world. They are the real deal. They are my soft landing when life happens. It is all about empowering one another. If that isn’t happening, then “bye, Felicia”. I don’t have time for bullshit.

So, I continue my mantra of “you do you, boo” while forging my own path surrounded by my tribe of strong, beautiful individuals. No regrets. No living in the past. Just a fifty something woman who figured out that she deserves only the best people and then she found them.
