Something happens when your kids reach adulthood. The magic of staying up all night putting toys together dissipates. Running around sprinkling reindeer food outside and setting out Santa’s “favorite” cookies is a thing of the past. Now, I have the items that my boys want residing my Amazon cart ready for purchase. Christmas has morphed into something a little different.

Because the magic of the season has fizzled, I sometimes get a wild hair up my ass to light that bitch up. As I type this blog, I am a bit giddy. You see, I purchased a gift for Bryce and my spouse that will probably result in them screaming like girls. Seriously. I am that good. Not to toot my own horn, but creative gift giving is kind of my jam. However, it is not Brian’s. Years ago, we opted out of exchanging gifts between the two of us. It just wasn’t worth the disappointment. Not for him. He got great gifts. It was me. Getting a scale for one’s birthday was the catalyst. It just took me about ten years to finally realize that we needed to stop the insanity or we might get divorced.

While I don’t normally purchase anything for him, I just couldn’t pass this one up. I got them an Extreme Driving Experience. Brian has already done the Richard Petty Driving Experience, which , by the way, he LOVED. I did that for one of his birthdays. I figured that this would be something they can do together. An exercise in bonding. Both will be driving a Corvette C8. I am assuming that is a good thing.

Anyway, my expectations are pretty high that both will be in awe of my presentation this morning. I hope I don’t hurt myself as I pat myself on the back.

Merry Christmas, everyone! May the day bring you relatives that don’t piss you off, excellent food that provides a party in your mouth, and places to hide when you need to escape.
