Don’t be overly impressed that I happen to know what day it is. Maybe it’s because yesterday was Mother’s Day which happens to always fall on a Sunday. Maybe it’s because I have big plans today. Or maybe it is because I am losing my mind.

If you are a mother, I hope you had a good day designated for unrealistic expectations. Kidding. Sort of. If you have been following my blog for awhile, you will remember my unfiltered rant about that particular holiday. I am all about honoring Moms. After all, we are an amazing bunch, but I can’t forget those moms who might have assholes for kids or perhaps, their child has passed away. Honor your mother everyday. That is my summation.

So it’s Monday and I am going on an adventure. Don’t be jealous. I will be donning my fancy mask while taking Bailey to his orthodontist appointment. Never, in my wildest dreams, did I ever think this outing would make me giddy. Yet, here we are. Oh, sure, I am basically going to sit in my car while he sees the doctor, but hello change of scenery.

One thing this quarantine has heightened is my sense of observation. I see those who continue to socialize with friends, etc. and while that works for them, I move their names to the bottom of the list of those that I will socialize with in a contained environment when it is “safe” to do so. I put in “safe” in quotation marks because I don’t really trust that word at this point. Everyone is going about this their own way. What works for me might not work for them. I proceed with caution while others run with abandonment.

The sun is out and I get a change of landscape. Sure, it is a brick building but at least it isn’t the same brick I have been seeing for the last 500 days. (My spouse likes to remind me that it really hasn’t been that long, but, for me, it feels like it.) I will be sure to take a picture and post it in Instragram. My sense of adventure is off the charts.
