If you are a frequent flyer by reading my blog, you are probably aware that I don’t mince words. I have had people call me out on what I have written and I politely have said, “Thank you for your continued readership” while giving them the finger as I press send. You see, you don’t have to like what I write. In fact, you don’t have to read it. You will understand my intro once you read today’s entry.

2020 has been a shit show. While I have experienced a lot of goodness through this period that I refer to as the universal pause, I am still disgusted by the human race. I thought maybe my dislike of people would simmer since I am abstaining from interacting with them, but no, the disgust only grew greater. My topic today is wearing a mask. I just got the trolls attention.

There is this video from a council meeting in Florida where they are apparently voting on mandatory mask wearing. Of course, there are those that disagree with the notion. Their arguments are solid, thought-provoking, and very well-developed. (Please read that sentence with enhanced sarcasm and an exaggerated eye-roll.) One woman stipulated, “I don’t wear a mask for the same reason I don’t wear underwear. Things gotta breathe”. Let that sink in for a moment. Now for the next enlightening statement, “And they want to throw God’s wonderful breathing system out the door by wearing a mask”. Okay, I don’t think anyone is not going to breathe by wearing a mask, so take your crazy back to your alien planet.

When did everyone get so prickly? Jesus. Wear a mask or a face shield. I get there are many that aren’t able to wear a mask. There are other options. Pick one. Those who constantly bitch about it are super self-centered. Their argument is that it infringes on their rights. Shut the fuck up. By not wearing a mask, you are infringing on everyone else’s right to not get infected with a potentially deadly virus. And since our government has turned their back on us, we are on our own. It is up to each of us to protect ourselves and others by wearing a simple mask. This isn’t difficult. I am going to say this once…….this isn’t about you. Take your selfish attitude and think about other people. Consider the people you love when complaining about the simple act of wearing a protective accessory.

Oh my God, I feel so much lighter after unloading my annoyance. I wear a mask because I love my family. I wear a mask to protect you and your loved ones. I wear a mask because even though humans make me crazy, I’m not an asshole ( in this case). Fun fact, no one likes wearing these masks, but we do so because it is the right thing to do.
