Good glory, friends. I feel like the universe keeps chanting, “hold my beer” anytime there is an inkling of a reprieve. Apparently, it is possible to protest during a pandemic, but obviously, not using six feet of social distancing. I think my sense of humor is broken. Oh, and I could have gone my whole life not knowing that if you put strawberries in salt water, it not only removes dirt and debris, but worms/bugs might come out too. Yeah, 2020 sucks.

I know we are going to be okay. It is just going to take some time and it won’t be without the intensity that we have been experiencing. Let’s face it, this situation didn’t occur overnight. As Brene Brown said, “The system was never broken because it was built this way”. So, we literally have to unravel ourselves from the ties that bind us. Relearn a new way of being more human. More compassionate. The reality is that some white dudes wrote iconic words that said, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among them these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” All means all, not just a select few. They had good intentions, but fell a little short of the mark. The reality is that we might be created equal in the eyes of God, but in the world we live in, equality is a scarce as a vaccine for COVID-19.

This is our wake-up call. Honestly, we have hit the snooze button too many times. Stay the course. There is always darkness before the light. I have to believe that this is our time to shift. To make the changes necessary to improve our human connection. It doesn’t take away the discomfort, but it does give me a whole new perspective. Just keep reminding yourself, that we belong together. Oh, and if someone finds my sense of humor, please return. I would love to laugh again.
