This small getaway has refueled me. It’s like a rejuvenation of epic proportions. There were a few things that I couldn’t participate in, but one activity that I was very present for was skeet shooting. I joke about my “Pandemic Bucket List” that consists of things I would never consider doing and this is one of those opportunities.

Our instructor was Don and I think he felt sorry for me. He was overly helpful to the point where I finally said, “Don, I think I can do it myself”. Clearly, Don wasn’t convinced because at one point he asked me, “Are you even seeing it?”. Look, I am not gifted in areas where there is a target involved. The only times I hit the flying discs were when Don was helping me hold my gun up and telling me when to pull the trigger. Seriously. When it was my turn to shoot, I swear he sighed.

I could blame it on my height or the fact that I have boot on my foot, but the reality is that I sucked at this particular activity. My friends, well, they were much better than me. Their stance, their aim, and their ability to actually hit the moving target were impressive. It’s cool. I can’t be good at everything. The fact that I didn’t shoot anyone was win for me.

Life is all about trying new things. Stepping out of your comfort zone. So, skeet shooting isn’t my jam, but I did find a cute jacket and hat for the occasion, so at least I looked adorable.
