At the beginning of 2024, I picked a word for the year. I no longer rely on resolutions that leave me empty. Instead, I pick a word to focus on that leads me to a lot of unexpected surprises.

My word this year was “intentional”. This particular selection provided some opportunities and experiences that I would have never picked for myself. It opened my heart to people, places and things. It allowed me to heal parts of myself that I didn’t know were damaged. It also revealed areas that I knew I could leave and forgive.

At the end of any given year, I often hear people say they are so glad that the year is over and they can’t wait until this new year starts. For whatever reason, they are desperate to move on. Every year brings challenges. This year hasn’t been without struggles. There has been loss with people dying, people in the process of dying and relationships evaporating. This is life. My perception is everything.

Make your pain your purpose.

Make your mess your message.

Life is not perfect and if I am waiting for MY year to be pure excellence then I am wallowing in unrealistic expectations.

Part of living a life of intention this year was to experience things out of my comfort zone. Did I know what that would look like? Nope. But, I was sure that it would be interesting. It started with volunteering with memory care patients with Hosparus. That brings me so much joy. Then I was approached about an opportunity for a part-time job as a crisis intervention specialist. Isn’t it crazy how the universe works when you just open yourself up?

2025 begins with me starting a new job and creating space where I take a giant leap of faith.

My word for the new year is PURPOSE. Finding it. Living it. Embracing it.

Hope you find your purpose in 2025

Happy New Year!!
