When I was younger, I was so envious of The Jetsons, because of their flying cars. Can you imagine? Flying to your destination. No road construction. Just the open air to fly to your heart’s content. I was naive back then and didn’t know that if people are horrible drivers on an actual roadway, they probably won’t improve in the air. However, it is the drivers that are the issue in this scenario, but the car makers.

Two years ago, we purchased a KIA Telluride. I always said at this point in my life, I don’t need a bigger car, but that was before I acquired two large breed dogs. We have spent more money accommodating those freeloading assholes. Anyway, since May of this year, I have received three recall notices. Yes, you heard that correctly….three. The first one says that “the defect can result in an unattended vehicle movement while in Park, increasing the risk of a crash”. It goes on to state that “the intermediate shaft and right front driveshaft may not be fully engaged due to suspected improper assembly”. Wow. That doesn’t sound great.

This was followed up with the second recall notice stating that “the wheel speed sensor (WSS) in your vehicle may be contaminated with moisture, causing corrosion, which may result in WSS signal fluctuation”. What in the hell does that mean? That is as clear as mud. Then last week, the third recall or the trifecta, as I like to refer to it, states that “The defect can result in a fire. Fire increases the risk of injury”. Wow. Thanks, Captain Obvious for that incredibly helpful information. It goes on to explain, “the front seat motor may overheat due to a stuck power seat slide knob which can result in a fire while driving or in Park”. Well, that sounds dangerous.

I am taking my mode of transportation in on Monday for the trifecta of car recalls and realized that if car makers can’t even get a human driving vehicle safe, what business do they have making self-driving cars? Can you imagine the recalls? Maybe somebody needs to reach out to Scotty, so we can simply be beamed to other locations. Taking the vehicle component out since apparently, they don’t make them like they used to.
