I pride myself on being an individual who has a knack for finding the perfect gift. It’s my jam. Years ago, Brian and I opted not to exchange gifts because, to be honest, that isn’t in his wheelhouse. Instead of being annoyed, I embraced it. However, there are moments that warrant a gift and I tend to lean toward the nudge of giving for fun and for free.

Today is my spouse’s AKA favorite person in the world, birthday. (I am not just saying it like he is perfect as some of our fellow social media users enjoy doing. No, he really is my favorite even when he does stupid shit.) Anyway, we returned from Boston as a birthday celebration for both him and Bryce (big 25 on Saturday) and were relieved to find our home unscathed by the wrath of Hurricane Helene. It was an amazing trip.

Monday morning, I was greeted with a text from my spouse that says, “There is water downstairs. The water came from the hot water heater, but I did have a hot shower.” Awesome. So, I do the next right thing. I call a plumber and they come out basically laughing that I am hopeful that this can be repaired. Spoiler alert…..it was not fixable as the lovely appliance was 16 years old. They made plans to install the new one yesterday, so Brian received a $1200 hot water heater for the man who has everything. I am also taking him to Sam’s later as a bonus gift.

He is one lucky guy. Maybe I will buy him a hot dog while we are there.
