It is a difficult time in our world. Lots of unknowns, fears, and general anxiety. I get it. It is completely natural to dive deep in the fear pool and obsess over the outcome whether it’s personal or public. Friends, this isn’t good for our own well-being. I am not saying that I am ignoring outside circumstances. I am merely taking care of myself. You see the price of my serenity is costly. It seeps into every aspect of my life. The more I talk about it or post about it, I become part of the problem. Unknowingly, of course.

Right now, I need to put on my oxygen mask first. I need to pray, meditate, and focus on what I can do in my corner of the world. My time with my Hosparus patients gives me an outlet to be among the solution. It creates a light that shines bright in the midst of darkness. I can’t allow the darkness to blanket me.

I can hear many say that my method is an excuse to ignore the problems that are escalating. That is your opinion and you are entitled to it. For me, I can sit around obsessing, but I refuse to block my own light. I can take action but detach from the outcome. I learned early on in my spiritual recovery that I am powerless over people, places, and things. I must surrender what is out of my control. It is called self-preservation.

Instead of focusing on what may happen, I chose to focus on the good. While I am grimacing over the state of affairs, I am missing my life. I am not focusing on the good shit that is happening. There is a lot of it, but we tend to lean into the negative. It is part of the human condition.

I want to challenge those of you that read this, to tell me something good. What is something that fuels your spirit? What is good in your life? It sounds so simple, but my reality is rooted in my corner of the world. I can be loving, kind, and compassionate to others. That spreads, friends and it is extremely powerful.

Give yourselves a lot of grace. Feel your feelings, but don’t let the anger and frustration spread like cancer. We can do hard things.
