The panic started last week when it was reported that a major winter storm was headed our way. Naturally, the human response is to panic and buy food like you will never get to a grocery store again. I thought that if I avoided the main grocery chains, I would stay out of the path of the overzealous individuals shopping as if their lives depended on it. That was my mistake. On Friday morning, I went to a local market right when they opened and there was already a line at the checkout. Okay. I can do this. It wasn’t lost on me that the items I thought would be readily available, were nowhere to be seen. I ended up with vegetarian chili and some other random items. It is possible, that I had some unrealistic expectations. At least, the liquor store wasn’t a disappointment. Anyway, I was grateful that I had food even if it wasn’t what was on my list. It is called being flexible.

The storm arrived with little fanfare except for the Meteorologists. I swear that forecasting these weather systems is like porn for them. Seriously, calm down. Nothing should get you that excited except for maybe finding the food you wanted to eat but panicked shoppers already grabbed it. I promise I will eventually get over that. Please honor my privacy during this difficult time.

After the storm ended, we were encouraged to stay home and off the roads. You don’t have to tell me twice. Apparently, there are those who really feel that driving on frozen roads is their calling. Honey, you can barely drive when the sun is out, what makes you think that driving in the snow is your gift?

We are now living in a frozen snow globe. The heatwave of at least 30 degrees probably won’t be happening for a while. In the meantime, if you have made statements of things that you will do when hell freezes over, now is your time to shine.

Stay warm!!!
