So, tomorrow is my writing workshop and I remain stumped on the process for my thirty minute prompt.  Each week our trusty leader provides a topic and we spend thirty minutes developing it.   This week the subject is finding your life theme.    I am not sure why this presents an issue, but my brain, for the first time ever, is a blank canvas.

My first thought was the circus as a potential theme, but I was really only contemplating the song when you attend the show versus that really being a segue into my experiences…..or maybe it is.    Really, it might be me just replaying the reoccurring situations, like my advocacy with Bailey, living with active alcoholism and embracing fourteen years of recovery for all involved, caregiving to elderly family members, jumping into the career of writing and being pretty successful in it, along with coping with lose and grief.   The list is endless, but struggling to pinpoint a topic is like searching for a needle in a haystack.

So, think about it.  What would your life theme be?  What is the constant companion to each of your life events?    It is wonderful exercise even if you don’t consider yourself a writer.   To really investigate the many facets that ebb and flow can help pinpoint a pattern or even an epiphany.     While I still am pondering my assignment, I hope that your life theme is reminiscent of not just the difficult lessons, but the amazing blessings that are showered upon us each and every day.   Now, if only I could stop hearing the circus theme song that is playing repeatedly in my head.
